Joseph DeLuca is Northeast Ohio’s leading authority on bartending, beverage programs, and our growing cocktail culture. Besides traveling throughout the region executing drink-based events for restaurants, bars, corporate and non-profit meetings and in-home parties as the man behind Dr. Drink’s Traveling Apothecary Show, Joseph is also the go-to guy for publications like Scene, Cleveland Magazine, and a variety of national industry magazines when they need an authority on the art of bartending, cocktail creation, and beverage trends. He is the founder, former vice president and an active member of the Cleveland Chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild, beverage director and libations raconteur for the popular Dinner in the Dark series, and an award-winning mixologist in his own right. Plus, he’s a really nice guy who possesses a true passion for educating, mentoring, and motivating the next generation of beverage professionals.
As a professional bartender, Joseph has dedicated more than 25 years to serving guests from behind the ‘stick,’ where he garnered both national recognition and local awards for his cocktail prowess. He is a Certified Specialist of Wine, a Certified Specialist of Spirits, and holds accreditation from BarSmarts Advanced.
Joseph has particular expertise on the business side of beverage programs, including brand building and the development of “best practices” tools and training that help ensure the health and profitability of bar operations. An an engaging and informative public speaker, he has been invited to share his business insights at national trade shows and conventions, including Chicago’s annual National Restaurant Association Show and the Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas. He is also much sought after by both private individuals and nonprofit organizations for his events design, planning, and management savvy.
